Scientists at the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters USB are exploring ways how to produce healthy and sustainable food for a growing human population without the use of pesticides. For this research, they built a modern hall, which combines fish farming and plant culture in the so-called aquaponics. Waste from fish farming serves here as an excellent fertilizer for plants and thus a minimum of waste is produced. Instead of pesticides, they use the natural insect police to protect plants from pests.
