Fishery and protection of waters is a comprehensive and general field of study, which is not aimed only at biological, ecological and technological aspects of fisheries and water management, but is also aimed at water environmental policy. General awareness of related disciplines is included. As our graduate you will be prepared to work at positions of top management and/or professional and specialist in fishing companies and unions, in organisations focused on environmental protection and/or water management or in laboratories specialized primarily in water quality assessment.

CONDITIONS OF ADMISSION TO STUDY:
Graduates of Bachelor´s fields of study Fishery and Protection of Waters or graduates of other Bachelor´s study programmes and fields can apply for the follow-up Master´s study if they prove sufficient expert knowledge for the follow-up Master´s field of study.
Graduates of the fields of study Fishery and Protection of Waters are admitted without admission examinations if they document the weighted study average from the entire Bachelor’s study (excluding results of the final state examination) which does not exceed the level of 2.10 (inclusive) and if they defended their Bachelor’s thesis with grade no worse than very well. All applicants are also admitted without admission examination if the number of candidates is lower than a specified number of students to be admitted.
If the number of applicants is higher than the specified number of students to be admitted, applicants not meeting the conditions for being admitted without admission examination are to pass a written test. The test will include questions from the following subjects of the accredited Bachelor´s fields of study Fisheries and Protection of Waters at the FFPW USB:
  • Basics of Cellular Biology (20 questions),
  • Basics of Hydrochemistry (20 questions),
  • Law in Fisheries and Water Management (15 questions),
  • Water Management (15 questions),
  • Fisheries (10 questions),
Order of applicants according to number of obtained points is established based on the result of the written admission examination. This order is of 0.6 importance. Another order is defined by the Admission Committee on the basis of assigned points in the range of 0-30 according to the evaluation of data on current practice of the applicant, competencies gained in the course of their employment, their motivation to qualification improvement and the employer’s recommendations. This order is of 0.4 importance. Applicants with the same number of points are placed at the same place. Other applicants are placed according to their actual place among applicants (e.g. if two applicants are placed third, next one is placed fifth). Overall order of applicants is determined by the weighted average from the order in the admission examination and evaluation of the Admission Committee. All applicants with the same place as the last admitted applicant are also included in the order of applicants to be admitted.
  • Applicants who are placed in the order of students to be admitted and who also meet other conditions for admission are notified of the admission to the study,
  • Applicants who are placed in the order of students to be admitted and who do not meet the conditions for admission (applies to applicants who are to receive their Bachelor’s degree in 2021) are informed about their placement in the order of students to be admitted and they would be admitted after meeting all the conditions for admission to the study,
  • Applicants who are not placed in the order of students to be admitted are not admitted to study.
Admission test for the follow-up Master´s study of the Fishery and Protection of Waters will take place from May 18, 2021 to May 28, 2021. Information on the date, time and place of the admission examination are sent to applicants’ contact email addresses stated in their application no later than 5 days before the date of the admission test.

Attachments to the application form to study:
  • An original or an officially certified copy of a diploma of completed Bachelor´s study or higher degrees of study (i.e. Master´s) – it applies to applicants for follow-up Master´s study who completed Bachelor´s or higher degree of study before 2021. Applicants who complete their Bachelor´s or higher degree of study in 2021 submit the proof of completion the Bachelor´s study immediately after they receive it, no later than on the date of the enrolment to study. In case the applicant obtained their education at a foreign university or a higher secondary school, the applicant submits i) a document proving equality of foreign study and diploma with a study at a Bachelor´s study programme accredited at the Czech higher education institution issued as the Rector´s Decision of such institution, unless the international treaty specifies otherwise or ii) the original or an officially certified copy of an official document confirming the attainment of higher education, which entitles to the study of a follow-up Master's study program in the given country. The document must be verified in accordance with the Section 52 of the Act No. 97/1963 Coll., On Private and Procedural International Law, as amended, unless an international agreement provides otherwise. At the same time, a) an official translation of the above document into Czech or English, ii) an English original, an officially certified copy of the English original or an official translation of the applicant's completed study obligations from the relevant university. In case of doubt, the FFPW USB may request to submit the document under the point i) (according to § 89 and 90 of the Act on Higher Education Institutions). If the
    applicant wants to enclose the original of any document, he or she must bring it in person to the Faculty’s Study Office,
  • Structured curriculum vitae of the applicant – it applies to applicants for combined form of study of Fishery (Bachelor´s study programme), Fishery and Protection of Waters, and full-time as well as combined form of study of Fishery and Protection of Waters (follow-up Master´s study).
  • Cover letter on qualification improvement – it applies to applicants for combined form of Bachelor´s and follow-up Master´s study programmes and for applicants for the field of study Fishery and Protection of Waters (follow-up Master´s study),
  • Employer’s recommendation for an applicant´s study – it applies to applicants for combined study of all degrees. This document is not compulsory, but it is considered during the admission procedure,
  • An original or an officially certified copy of a certificate proving the level of knowledge of English language – it applies to applicants for Master’s study programmes taught in English. If the applicant wants to enclose the original of any document, he or she must bring it in person to the Faculty’s Study Office.

All attachments except for the documents verifying the level of achieved education can be delivered as e-attachments when submitting the application online (by e-mail to the address of the Study Office or as an attachment to the online application to study). In case of fields of study taught in English, the application and all attachments must be in English.
If there are any formal deficiencies in the application, the Study Office will call for rectification of these deficiencies. In case that substantial formal deficiencies are not removed by the date mentioned in the call, such applications will be excluded from the admission procedure. Applicants are responsible for accuracy of data provided in the application. If the applicant specifies incorrect information in the application, they can be excluded from the admission procedure or they will not be allowed to enrol to study at the FFPW USB.

 

FEE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORM
The fee for acts associated with the admission procedure in the amount of CZK 500 must be paid at the time of the application submission, either by a bank transfer, by a money order, or online wia a payment gateway in the IS STAG application in chase the applicant submits their application this way.
